Chorakukan, nestled in a corner of Maruyama Park, stands as a villa crafted by Murai Kichibei, the Meiji-era business magnate renowned as the “Tobacco King.” Meaning “hall of long-lasting enjoyment,” the villa earned its name, bestowed by the first Prime Minister of Japan, Ito Hirobumi, during his stay. This historic Western-style building, located in the foothills of Higashiyama in Kyoto, once served as a venue for distinguished banquets in the nineteenth century, hosting guests from Japan and abroad. Chorakukan, steeped in history, has become a beloved spot for photoshoots throughout the seasons. While a Western-style wedding dress naturally graces this setting, it's also an excellent location for embracing modern Japanese style with traditional Japanese clothing.
